*89 points ALDERBROOK 2002 SYRAH, Dry Creek Valley

Focusing more on Syrah's spicy side than on its blackberryish fruit, this rich, fairly generous wine gets a useful boost from a broad layer of creamy oak. It is supple and somewhat fleshy in texture but is never heavy or overdone, and its moderately tannic finish is very much in line with expectations for an outgoing, youthful and commendable Syrah.
